Reviewing bat detections

After Alato Lab analyses your recordings, detections are grouped into the following categories:

  • Long-tailed – High-confidence long-tailed bat detections

  • Short-tailed – High-confidence short-tailed bat detections

  • Possible LT – Low-confidence long-tailed bat detections

  • Possible ST – Low-confidence short-tailed bat detections

  • Non-bat – No bat detected

Use the tabs to filter detections by category.

Alato Lab is tuned to capture all possible bat detections, so around 15% of results may require review. We recommend manually reviewing the Possible LT, Possible ST, and Non-bat categories.

How to review detections

Review and verify bat detections by category in Alato Lab to make it easier to analyse and manage your results.

To review a detection, click the suggested species button (shown with a dotted outline) to verify it, or select a different species button to change it. Use keyboard shortcuts to speed up your review.

How to verify or modify detections

When you verify or modify a detection, that recording moves to the bottom of the list in its updated category tab. Filter by Review Status to view only Verified or Modified detections. Review status for each recording is also included in the .CSV export in Reports.

To undo a verification of modification, navigate to the History tab and click the "Undo" button. Learn more here: Undoing changes to species detections
